Happy Monday, my dears. Hope things are well on your end. Did you have a nice weekend? I most definitely did- a little less productive than I would have liked, but completely wonderful all the same.
I had fish & chips for the first time on Saturday night. I guess since I've been in the UK for close to three months it was about time, right? I actually really enjoyed it though, basically like a big fish stick. I also devoured a Ben&Jerry's Carmel Sutra pint of ice cream with Taylor that same night over five episodes of Friends.. Definitely don't regret any of it.
I'm currently preparing for a little study trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon for the next couple of days. I'm really excited for it- we'll be seeing lots of Shakespeare plays and going to pubs with the casts afterwards. It will be nice to get out of Bath for a few days too, but the trip is falling right before my second round of essays are due for the semester. Things are busy busy!
For those of you keeping up with my 101 in 1001 list, I'm now reading Jane Austen's fifth novel, Northanger Abbey, for class. I'm only a couple of chapters in, but I quite like it! And the weather in Bath, as weird as it can be, has proven to be really perfect reading weather. Rainy grossness: grab a cup of tea and read; sunshine with a crisp breeze: fold into the corner of a cafe with a book. Have I mentioned I love it here?
I was also able to grab brunch with a friend that I met through my internship on Sunday. We went to Bills, and, over the spread of scrambled eggs & porridge, exchanged both our knowledge of UK v. American mannerisms and our repertoire of must-see films. We walked through town, popping in and out of bookstores & perfume shops, & mentally compiled a list entitled "Lauren's To-Do's Before She Leaves."Exciting, but sad really. Don't really want to think about leaving just yet.
Anyhoo, enough rambling. Take a second to check out a few

xo,
Stratford-Upon-Avon is right by my hometown and definitely one of my favourite places in the whole of England! There's a shop right by Shakespeare's birthplace that sells butterbear and I thought it was the best thing ever until I tasted the real thing at the studio tours! If you get to go to the Royal Shakespeare Company, definitely try and visit their rooftop restaurant for Champagne afternoon tea - the view over the river is absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteHope you have an amazing time - it's a really special place!!

I'll have to see what I can do! Thanks for the advice. :) We are so close!!! x
DeleteI've heard that about fish and chips ;) Glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like England is the perfect place for bookworms. And don't you just love Austen?! She's my absolute favorite :)
ReplyDeleteOooh man Kristyn, you'd fit right in. And seriously though, I will fangirl with you anytime over Austen- just recently saw where she grew up and where she and her family are buried! Way cool.
