Hi dear readers, how's this week been for you all? Let's talk, I miss it after the chaotic week I've had. Things have been pretty swell on my end. Busy, but swell. Yesterday I read aloud a bit of one of my short stories (quite exciting, actually) and had the most perfectly ripe avocado who's seed came out on the first try. There's currently a bouquet of (alive, mind you) pink tulips smelling up a corner of my desk for the second week in a row now, and the amount of days left in the semester is finally countable.
This time of year is what made me fall in love with my school; the everywhere fountains and blooms and sitable benches gets my heart racing. I remember being a senior in high school, coming to tour campus for the second time as many prospective students are doing today actually, and having it occur to me that I could very well see myself studying here for the next four years.
In two-ish weeks, I'll officially be able to say that three of those years have passed. Sara and I were talking about this the other day, but its so incredibly true: no one can prepare you for what you learn in college, especially outside of the classroom. If I could somehow go back and time and see myself in the spring of freshman year, I don't think I would recognize me. I was fidgety and uncomfortable; I blinked too much and held my chin too low. What a terrible terrible waste of time, I would tell myself.
I would then say, two years from now, you still won't have all the answers. You won't have everything figured out. But you will know, however, that buying yourself flowers is perfectly okay. Also, you'll want to invest in a vase.
